The Biodiversity SPD provides technical guidance and sets out the information that should be provided with planning applications to show how development proposals meet biodiversity requirements.
Since the adoption of the Biodiversity SPD, the Councils have also published an Interim Offsite Biodiversity Net Gain Protocol.
Adoption of the Biodiversity SPD
The Greater Cambridge Biodiversity SPD was adopted by Cambridge City Council in January 2022 and by South Cambridgeshire District Council in February 2022.

Public consultation on the draft SPD took place from 23 July to 17 September 2021.
