The Cambridgeshire Flood and Water SPD, prepared by Cambridgeshire County Council along with the other Cambridgeshire local planning authorities, provides guidance for developers on how to manage flood risk and the water environment as part of new development proposals.
South Cambridgeshire District Council will not generally adopt or maintain sustainable drainage systems, so the Adoption and Maintenance of Sustainable Drainage Systems in South Cambridgeshire (November 2016) was agreed as Council Policy to be used as a material consideration when considering planning applications.
Adoption of the Cambridgeshire Flood and Water SPD
The Cambridgeshire Flood and Water SPD was re-adopted by South Cambridgeshire District Council in November 2018 and by Cambridge City Council in December 2018.
The adopted SPD and Adoption and Maintenance of Sustainable Drainage Systems in South Cambridgeshire are published in our document library.
Public consultation on the draft SPD took place from 4 September to 16 October 2015, and was originally adopted by South Cambridgeshire District Council in November 2016 and by Cambridge City Council in December 2016.
