The Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan as made now forms part of the development plan for South Cambridgeshire. All planning decisions in the neighbourhood area will need to comply with the development plan (that now includes the Neighbourhood Plan), unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

Strategic Environmental Assessment / Habitat Regulations Assessment screening
South Cambridgeshire District Council and Great Abington Parish Council, have undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) screening of the draft Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan.

Pre-submission consultation (Regulation 14)
Great Abington Parish Council carried out consultation on the draft (pre-submission) Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan from 24 July to 18 September 2017.
Submission public consultation (Regulation 16)
Great Abington Parish Council submitted the Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents to South Cambridgeshire District Council on 22 February 2018.
A public consultation on the submission version of the Neighbourhood Plan was carried out between 5 March and 16 April 2018.

Examination (Regulation 17)
Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan was submitted for examination on 30 May 2018.
The independent examiner appointed to carry out the examination was Andrew Ashcroft.
The final Examiner’s Report was received on 15 October 2018.

Referendum
The Director for Planning agreed to proceed to referendum in October 2018, and the referendum on the Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan took place on 13 December 2018.
The results of the referendum were:
- Yes votes: 83 (79.05%)
- No votes: 22 (20.95%)
- Turnout: 60.69%

Making the Neighbourhood Plan
Great Abington Former LSA Estate Neighbourhood Plan was made (adopted) on 21 February 2019 and now forms part of the development plan for South Cambridgeshire. All planning decisions in the neighbourhood area will need to comply with the development plan (that now includes the Neighbourhood Plan), unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
