Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan was made (adopted) on 24 November 2022.
The Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan as made now forms part of the development plan for South Cambridgeshire. All planning decisions in the neighbourhood area will need to comply with the development plan (that now includes the Neighbourhood Plan), unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
Neighbourhood area designated
On 3 February 2015 the Planning Portfolio Holder designated the Gamlingay neighbourhood area.

Strategic Environmental Assessment / Habitat Regulations Assessment screening
South Cambridgeshire District Council and Gamlingay Parish Council have undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) screening of the draft Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan.

Pre-submission consultation (Regulation 14)
Gamlingay Parish Council carried out public consultation on the draft (pre-submission) Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan from 7 September to 30 October 2020.
Submission public consultation (Regulation 16)
Gamlingay Parish Council submitted the Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents to South Cambridgeshire District Council on 26 August 2021.
A public consultation on the submission version of the Neighbourhood Plan was carried out between 27 September to 23 November 2021.

Examination (Regulation 17)
Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan was submitted for examination on 6 December 2021. The independent examiner appointed to carry out the examination was Andrew Ashcroft.
The final Examiner's Report was recieved on 7 March 2022.
A supplementary Examiner's Note was also received on 2 September 2022.

Referendum
The Director for Planning agreed to proceed to referendum in September 2022, and the referendum on the Gamlingay Neighbourhood Plan took place on 10 November 2022.
The results of the referendum were:
- Yes votes: 403 (76.62%)
- No votes: 123 (23.38%)
- Turnout: 18.05%
